Went here on a field trip with my child's class. He had a great time and really enjoyed being there. We will definitely be back as a family, so we can really take our time on each level. I really enjoyed the honey bee section.
We have a membership and haven't regretted it! Two things to watch for: they have limited hours and days during certain seasons and the paint booth in the basement also has limited hours (I believe only open after lunch). Check ahead so you don't promise your children you'll go... and then they are closed! Speaking from experience.
It's a great place for a school or homeschool field trip.

An amazing interactive children’s museum. My 2 year old son and I came here one day in the winter as we were trying to find something to do as it was so cold. He had so much fun running from floor to floor exploring every new interactive display and learning how things work. He really loved the light up stairs! The other fun display was the James River model and the Jamestown display. I am actually planning to bring him back for his 3rd birthday next week and see how much more he can play. They have done an incredible job with the entire facility. It was very clean and the staff was helpful and polite. We can’t wait to come back!
This is such a fun place for kiddos…and adults alike. We went with our grandchildren on their field trip and they had such a good time! I appreciate that they have hand sanitizer readily available and the place is clean. I was also grateful that it wasn’t very crowded!
This place is awesome! My 4 year old had a blast. Several floors of different games and animals to explore. Such a cool place and the admission is as only $36 for 3 people. Highly recommend for kids under 12. We got there when it opened and there was no wait. The admission allows you an all day pass so you can leave and come back later too.
We decided to check this place out with our kids and they loved it! Lots of different fun exhibits for all ages. Be ready to climb, because there are tunnels and slides that go from the top to the bottom of the building! There are several huge picnic tables outside that are in a shady spot, which was a great area to eat our picnic lunch! They have a room in the farm area for mothers to feed and change their baby, which I think is great!
Delightful.
During the school season, it’s a pleasure to have somewhere to take my 3 year old son that’s not crowded. We can spend an hour daily going back to his favorite exhibits and exploring new ones. As an adult, I’ve learned so much already and would love to spend a day here alone.
Their “Everyone is Special” initiative focuses on autism with trained individuals in the field—a great opportunity to reach out to others in the Autism community.
Spend some time browsing their website. There are a lot of valuable resources here. The staff is wonderful.
We've done a lot of children's museums and science centers, but I think this one really is exceptional. Friendly staff. Super clean! And almost all the exhibits were in perfect working order. A wide variety of engaging exhibits. My kids are 2 and 5 and there was a lot that kept their attention for a long time! There was a large group of 5th graders there at the same time, and they also seemed very engaged. The climbing tower that goes to all 4 floors was great too.
